Heavy foot traffic Wet mopping is the way to clean the floor. One problem with this is that plain water is a little bit alkaline by nature and often leaves white water spots behind on your floor. You will need to neutralize it by adding vinegar to the water to prevent white spots. In a gallon of warm water, you add a one-eighth cup of white vinegar. For best results, you need to use a micro-filter mop. It has grooves and is very soft so it can collect any dirt very well. Dip your mop in the mixture, wring out any excess water, and mop your laminate flooring. Let air dry and walk on it when dry.
Now that you've started laying your laminate flooring you will undoubtedly find that you need to cut some of your boards when you reach the far side, or the top or bottom side of the room. The best tool for the job is a laminate cutter, which is purpose-built to give a quick, easy, clean cut to your laminate, without creating the mess of using a hacksaw. As you proceed through the laying, make use of beater blocks, and pulling bars along with a hammer, to encourage the boards to sit tightly and form a good lock together. A beating block is a buffer between your board and your hammer, to prevent damage to the board, and a pulling bar is a useful tool when you reach a wall, and there is no room to hammer a board in place; instead you insert the pulling bar into the gap between your laminate flooring and the wall, and then hammer the vertical lip of the bar to encourage the board in place.
The four main styles of Harmonics Laminate Flooring include royal mahogany, harvest oak, skyline maple, and vintage chestnut. This type of floor will give you the hardwood look that you will otherwise spend a lot of money on. This floor may not be the real thing, but you will not be able to tell the difference. When installing this floor, you will find that it employs a Uniclik joinery type method. This is basically a tongue and groove method that makes it very easy for the installation.
The quality of the locking mechanism is critical to the durability and look of your floating laminate floor, so pay attention to the following points and make your final choice accordingly.
The Length Of The Boards Can Cause PeakingThis is usually the least likely issue, and does not pertain to all laminate flooring manufacturers. Having one board that's too long will net you the same result as not having enough expansion room. If there is no single plank that's longer than recommended by the manufacturer, then this issue is easily avoided. However, if you didn't do the install, you may not know who the manufacturer is. For the most part, unless your issue is in a long hallway or you have an exceptionally large home with runs of longer than 40 feet, you can probably ignore this possibility. That is, however, unless you can't find any other places, in which case you might get stuck pulling planks and looking for manufacturer markings.
